Notify your Brigade Nurse Counselor (BNC) as soon as possible if there are any delays in your expected college graduation date OR commission date.
You will receive your ATT from your requested licensing state within 1-4 weeks of graduation. If you have NOT received your ATT within 4 weeks of graduation, reach out to the state board of nursing.
NOTIFY your BNC upon receipt of your ATT, or of any delays in obtaining your ATT.
Soldiers MUST attempt the NCLEX within 60 days of college graduation. Your ATT will state your earliest available date to schedule your NCLEX. It is NOT recommended to wait the entire 60 days before testing. Most Soldiers test and successfully pass their NCLEX within 30 days of graduation. The Army will accept any state RN license within the US.
NOTIFY your BNC of your NCLEX testing date and requested licensing state as soon as your test is scheduled.
Greater than 90% of Soldiers across the country pass their NCLEX on the 1st attempt when testing within 30 days of college graduation. Pearson VUE and/or your state will notify you of your test standing within 1-10 business days of attempt.
Soldiers have 2 attempts to successfully pass the NCLEX. In the event of a failing attempt, Soldiers will work with their BNC on test strategies and re-attempt scheduling.
NOTIFY your BNC of your results (PASS/FAIL) as soon as notified by Pearson VUE or your state.
Your requested licensing state will issue your RN license number typically within 14 business days of NCLEX PASS notification. Be aware that if you applied for a "MULTI-STATE" license, issuance can take 21-30 business days (state dependent.)
Upon notification of your NCLEX pass result to your BNC, you will receive a REQUEST FOR ASSIGNMENT (RFA) form. This form is the required data for creation of your orders for BOLC and first duty station. This form must be complete prior to submission to Human Resources Command (HRC).
Once ALL information is complete, send the RFA to your BNC for HRC submission.
Special Considerations:
Mode of Transportation to BOLC (Air or POV)
Via AIR: HRC will provide a 1610, TDY travel form. Soldiers need to work with ROTC Battalion HRAs to schedule flights into San Antonio International Airport (SAT) via Defense Travel System (DTS) or directly through SATO Travel. It is recommended you fly into San Antonio, TX the same day you report to BOLC, unless flights don't allow for reporting during business hours (0800-1600 CST.)
If your HRA is unable to assist in scheduling flights in DTS or with SATO Travel, you need to email ftknoxoff@cwtsato.com in order to book flights.
Via POV: You will be allotted days to travel from start location (identified on your RFA) to San Antonio, TX. In general, Soldiers are provided 1 day of travel for every 350 miles. Soldiers are reimbursed for travel time. Total reimbursement per day is $151.00. Additional reimbursement will be provided for spouse/family members.
For more information on PCS travel, see the "Your Move" tab in the drop-down above or click here. (all information is subject to change without notice.)
Contact Information Address:
This address must match the address in CCIM (Cadet Computer Information Management System). This address must also be the address where you have household goods (HHG) that you would like shipped to your first duty station. If an address is incorrect in CCIMM, your ROTC BN must update it in CCIM. Ask your HRA or BNC to confirm your address.
Physical Date:
This is the date of your COMMISSIONING PHYSICAL, which is typically completed at Cadet Summer Training (CST). Ask your HRA or BNC for your physical date.
RN License Number:
This is required prior to submission of your RFA. This is ALWAYS the last piece of information needed on the RFA form prior to submission.
Duty Station Preference:
New graduate nurse officers may only be assigned 1 of 13 locations as a first duty station. Soldiers must rank ALL duty stationed listed on the RFA from MOST PREFERRED (1) to LEAST PREFERRED (10). Ask your BNC for specifics on each location.
Dependents:
Indicate all civilian dependents (spouses/children, etc.)
Upon your RFA submission to HRC, you will receive Request for Orders (RFO) typically within 4 weeks.
Maintain contact with your ROTC Battalion Human Resources Assistant (HRA) in order to obtain copies of your Request for Orders (RFO) and Orders.
HRC will upload your orders in the Integrated Personnel and Pay System - Army (IPPS-A). There is an IPPS-A link HERE and at the bottom of this page. You'll need a CAC or DS LOGON to access the site. Your BNC has official information on creating a DS LOGON account, and other information can be found HERE and at the bottom of this page.
Orders are "concrete" documents that outline your move to your duty station and any schools you will attend en-route to your duty station. This document is required to begin scheduling Household Good (HHG) shipment, and other administrative processes. This document can be utilized to transition your planning phase from "soft planning" to "decision-making."
For resources to assist you in preparing for your move, select the "Your Move" from the drop down at the top of the page, or click here.
